CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

Four Certificates are offered by the Louisville Academy of Music. Certificates are geared at High School students to be completed by the time of graduation. However, certificates can be earned by students of any age. Certificate of Excellence awardees will receive a plaque displayed in our school. Teachers must sign off on the completion of each component to receive credit towards completion. 

Certificate in Performance

Requirements: a) Completion of 1 level of Music Theory, or its equivalent by examination. b) At least two years of private instrument study at the Academy c) At least one semester and performance in a LAM Chamber Group d) Presentation of a solo/chamber recital

Certificate in Composition

Requirements: a) Completion of 2 levels of Music Theory (2 semesters), or its equivalent by examination. b) At least two years of private composition study at the Academy c) Composition of several works in the larger forms. Composition will be publicly performed where practical. 

Certificate in Pedagogy

Requirements: a) Completion of 1 level of Music Theory, or its equivalent by examination. b) At least two years of private study at the Academy c) Completion of 10 hours of shadowing private lessons  d) Completion of 10 hours of coaching sessions for private LAM students

Certificate of Excellence 

Requirements: a) Completion of a Certificate in Performance, Composition, or Pedagogy b) One year service on our Board of Directors or Board Committee c) Completion of an outreach performance or musical project in the community
