Abby Mires (she/her)
Abby Mires is a Lexington native and a graduate of the University of Louisville, where she earned her degree in vocal performance, magna cum laude. She began her training at SCAPA (School for the Creative and Performing Arts).
While at UofL, Abby cultivated her passion for vocal music through a wide range of performance opportunities. She appeared as Jeanette in L’Amant Anonyme with the UofL Opera Theatre and performed as a chorister in Gluck’s Orfeo with Kentucky Opera. Abby was also a dedicated member of the internationally recognized Cardinal Singers, with whom she toured across three continents. Throughout her time with the ensemble, she premiered solos in several new choral works. Her most recent travels with the group took her to South Korea. Through her work in solo and ensemble performances, she developed the flexibility to adapt her voice to a variety of musical genres and settings.
In addition to her collegiate and operatic performances, Abby was featured in Mammoth, a large-scale collaborative composition by Teddy Abrams of the Louisville Orchestra, which included a performance with renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
Abby currently serves as a choral scholar at St. Francis in the Fields and teaches private voice throughout the Kentuckiana area. She is also an active performer with the Louisville Chamber Choir, where she has been featured as a soloist.
In addition to her classical training, Abby is passionate about exploring a variety of musical styles. She recently completed a musical theatre workshop through NATS, where she focused on developing new belt and mix techniques. Abby is committed to differentiated instruction, tailoring her methods to meet the unique needs and goals of each student she has the opportunity to work with.
