Masterclass: Stage Presence

  • Louisville Academy of Music 2740 Frankfort Ave Louisville, KY, 40206 United States (map)

In the Ruth French Recital Hall, cellist, Alan Ohkubo will lead a masterclass for any interested musicians. This is a free chance to perform for a friendly audience, gain valuable and novel insight from LAM faculty who you may never have worked with before, learn from your peers who participate in the class, and hear exciting, unfamiliar music.

New in 2025: each masterclass features a theme that goes beyond just the music being played - something that every musician, regardless of instrument, genre, age, or geography has to pay attention to. This month’s theme is stage presence. Do you have a tendency to hide behind your music stand when you play? Feel a little awkward when making eye contact with an audience member? Unsure about how low or how long to bow?  Alan is a poised and polished presenter capable of conferring confidence with ease, elegance, and enthusiasm. Whether you choose to perform in this class yourself, or just come watch and listen, we’re sure you’ll learn something, enjoy the music, and leave inspired!
