Kaylynn’s Testimonial

"LAM has an astonishingly supportive, collaborative, and encouraging environment. From all the teachers I've worked with, I can confidently say that every teacher here is focused on growth, potential, and overall supporting their students in any way needed.  Through LAM, I've also met so many diverse musicians, role models, and friends that share the same ideals as I do. Most notably, I've developed a fervent passion for music performance, and I can't imagine myself in any other way.

The programs here are unlike any others that I've seen. From my seven years at LAM, I've been well acquainted with LAM's vision—making music accessible to the community. Through being a student and teaching students as a teaching assistant, I've seen how invaluable music can be to almost anyone, especially during the current pandemic. This makes building music pathways to anyone all the more important. Ultimately, I hope that LAM's mission continues to grow; it truly is worth supporting."

New Testimonial:

“When I first started learning piano and violin, I merely saw music as a fun hobby. Now, as a student at Eastman, music is my job, and the line between music as a passion versus a job is becoming blurrier for me. When I was preparing for my upcoming recital, there were numerous times where I questioned what music was for me. It’s only been until recently where I’ve been able to articulate a potential answer: music to me isn’t proving I’m the “next best” musician or receiving the most prestigious of opportunities. To me, music reflects me, and the music I make is meant to sustain the human joy and connection I have with others around me.

Because of this, I’ve come to appreciate the time I spent at LAM even more. LAM gave younger me a foundation to how music could connect me with others, and how music could be powerful to others and myself. Even many years later, I still see LAM as one of my musical homes, a homage to why I love music. Thank you so much to LAM for helping me become the musician I am today!”
