Lina Barrett

Piano

Lina received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Alabama and a Master's degree in Musicology from the University of Kentucky. She also attended the Vienna Academy of Music and taught music in Kenya as a Peace Corps volunteer.

Besides teaching privately, she has taught piano at Jefferson Community College and theory in the Preparatory Department of the University of Louisville.

Lina also has considerable experience as an accompanist at the Universities of Louisville and Kentucky and as a staff accompanist at the Interlochen National Music Camp.

Her students have participated in the MTNA competitions, winning first places in both piano and theory; in the National Guild Auditions, earning the highest scores awarded; in the ISSMA's Solo and Ensemble, where, for over 25 years, the majority of students received perfect scores; in the Indiana Young Artists Competition, the Louisville Macdowell Competition and various other local competitions and talent shows. Several students have received music scholarships to various colleges and many have gone on to major in music in college.
