Sean Jobes (he/him)

Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba

A man of many hats-or more fittingly, many horns-is a multi-instrumentalist and composer-arranger who hails from Fredericksburg, VA. He currently serves as Staff Arranger and Principal Euphonium with the Indiana National Guard Band.

From the tender age of 15, Sean began his professional journey in music, rapidly earning a reputation for musical excellence and creative versatility, collaborating across genres from classical ensembles to commercial acts.

His musical odyssey continued at Lawrence University in Wisconsin (the “Great White North”), where he earned a Bachelor of Music with a minor in Brass Pedagogy in 2017 under the masterful guidance of Martin Erickson. He then pursued a Master’s in Music Performance at the University of Michigan, graduating in 2018 and holding principal euphonium positions with both the Lawrence University Wind Ensemble and the University of Michigan Symphony Band. During that time, he even shared the studio with classical royalty from the New York Philharmonic on an award-winning UM Band album.

In 2019, Sean joined the U.S. Army Bands and relocated to Camp Humphreys in South Korea, becoming Principal Euphonium and arranger for the Alliance Brass Quintet. There, he created a variety of arrangements performed before dignitaries, including the President of Korea and international ambassadors—and even performed alongside K‑pop stars like Young K and DAY6. After three transformative years in Korea, Sean moved to Fort Sill, Oklahoma to serve with the 77th Army Band. Sean and the band hit the road hard, touring across the central and Southwest U.S playing in venues ranging from high school gyms to massive concert halls and everything in between. They also recruited him to perform with the Grammy Award winning United States Army Field Band on their fall tour across the western U.S. and Canada.

Instilled from early on in his career, Sean is deeply passionate about working with the next generation of musicians. In addition to his busy performing and arranging schedule he maintains a world wide studio via Zoom. His students have had success from middle school all the way to professional levels, with several holding positions in various military bands, cruise lines, and music education institutions all over the world.

Today, Sean is proud to represent the Indiana National Guard Band as Principal Euphonium, Staff Arranger, and occasional trombonist in the jazz band section. This gig has put him on stage with legends like Wycliffe Gordon, among others as well as performed as featured artist at the United States Army Band Tube-Euphonium Workshop.

Off the clock, Sean trades in his arranger’s pen for a controller and the treadmill. He’s often found playing video games with his wife and cat, pretending to “get fit” at the gym (but mostly walking until his timer dings), or diving into a good novel when not busy writing charts for global clients and his side projects.
